Every other year, The Dance Well Centre brings a show of short works to the stage exploring a range of themes and challenging our students to extend their creative range. This year we are excited to present A Triple Bill. This features three short works: Back to 80s, On Broadway and a collaborative piece choreographed by our senior students Dust.
Back to the 80s Exploring their attic one day a group of children find a mysterious box labelled ‘toys’, but these aren’t any toys the children recognise. One by one the toys come out and we are thrown into a world of nostalgia as their parents rediscover the toys of their youth. Back to the 80s features our Junior School students with some guest appearances from our senior students.
On Broadway Ana has always dreamed of making it big on Broadway, so when her ballet teacher tells her there is a new high school of the performing arts opening just like in Fame! she knows she has to audition. As she waits for her acceptance letter, she begins to day dream imagining herself featured beneath the Broadway lights in all her favourite musicals. On Broadway stars our Evolve and Senior School students.
Dust Dust is a collaborative project written and choreographed by our Senior Workshop - the culmination of a year’s hard work. Dust is set in a not-too-distant dystopian future where water has become the region’s most precious commodity. As two neighbouring villages fight over their dwindling water supply, the government steps in to take control. Dust storms, rivalries, heartbreak and war ensue and at the end of it all what remains? Dust is performed by our Senior School with a couple of junior special guests.
